It’s been a year since Georgia Tech took the field for a game against Georgia.
After playing two games, the Yellow Jackets were not allowed to leave the Georgia Dome until Monday, Jan. 10, 2020, at 7 p.m.
After the game, coach Mark Richt called a press conference and announced the team would return for its first practice on Jan. 12.
After that, it would take until Feb. 10 to practice again.
“We are committed to being a team that plays well,” said Richt.
“This is our first practice back.
This is what we’re here for, and we’re going to do our best to get ready for the next game.”
It’s also the last time Georgia Tech will practice before its season opener against Texas Tech on Feb. 17.
In a move to ease the workload on its coaching staff, the school has put in place an alternate practice schedule.
This schedule allows Georgia Tech to practice in more cities in Georgia and Florida, and in more time than most of its opponents.
With the new practice schedule, Georgia Tech could practice in Atlanta and Miami on Feb 12 and 14.
On the other hand, Georgia State, which won the SEC East last season, will practice in Nashville and Tampa on Feb 18.
That leaves Tech in a difficult position.
It is the only team to not practice in February.
It’s not like the rest of the SEC has a great schedule.
Alabama and Georgia State are both scheduled to play each other in early March.
Alabama plays two games against top-10 teams before traveling to Auburn in mid-March.
Georgia State has three games to prepare for.
The Bulldogs will travel to Tennessee, South Carolina and Missouri in mid March before hosting Georgia Tech in late March.
The team has also been practicing in Florida for two weeks before playing two of the five games in Florida on Feb 10.
The last time the Bulldogs practiced on Feb 5 was the first day of spring practice, but the team is now ready to take the field.
Tech is also set to practice at 5:30 p.p.m., and it will hold a pre-practice at 6:30.
The Yellow Jackets will begin the spring football schedule on March 2 at 5 p.s.m at Georgia Tech’s home stadium, Georgia Dome.
