With the help of Ohio State’s coaching staff and offensive coordinator Mike Bobo, the No. 5-ranked Wildcats beat Michigan State 38-24 on Saturday night to claim the national title.
It was a game of two halves.
Michigan State’s defense was so dominant that the Wildcats couldn’t convert on any of the first four fourth-quarter drives.
But that’s not how the Wolverines played.
Michigan’s offense, which was on fire, scored touchdowns on a 10-play, 95-yard drive with 6:30 to go to take a 10th-down advantage.
With time running out, Michigan State quarterback D’Onta Foreman broke out a 19-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Kevin White on third down.
It marked the first time in the history of the rivalry that a team scored on the last play of a drive.
Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson ran for his fourth touchdown of the night, a 12-yarder to White.
Michigan then ran back for another score and capped a 20-play drive with a 2-yard run by quarterback Jacoby Brissett.
With just over three minutes to play, the Wolverans drove to the Michigan State 30-yard line, only to see the Spartans’ defense seal the game.
Michigan scored the final eight points of the game, including a 27-yard field goal by linebacker Matt Trubisky.
Ohio State won the game 35-28.
The win over Michigan State marks the third time in five seasons that the Wolverons have claimed the Big East title.
The Buckeyes have now won four conference championships, including the 2016 national championship.

Michigan lost to Ohio State last season on national TV.
The Wolverines have won five straight games against Michigan.
Michigan is 6-0 in its last eight games against the Wolverings, including six straight victories since the 2011 season.
Michigan has won six straight Big Ten titles.
Ohio is 6.5 the last time Ohio State has lost a Big Ten game.
The only other Big Ten team to win a conference title in the last six years is Michigan State.
